To any doctors that may be on here:
Does this sound like osteoarthritis or rhematiod arthritis? I am only 28 yrs. old but when I was 23 I developed severe TMJ (requiring surgery) & about a month ago I started having some discomfort in my wrists to the point where my hands have just locked up & I've dropped drinks a couple of times. Then my elbows & fingers started aching. Just a dull achy feeling. And now, I have a Baker's cyst in my knee. I had an MRI done & that is what the MRI said I had. When the dr. called w/ my results I couldn't think of everything that I needed to ask him but after his office closed I thought of all kinds of things to ask him (of course). Could he have seen arthritis on an MRI & if so wouldn't he have mentioned that when telling me about the Baker's cyst? He did say that I would be having recurring Baker's cysts.. Does this sound like some sort of arthritis or am I to young to have that? I'm just starting to worry since I've had so many of my joints affected. I hope someone has some answers...
Answer:What you have in your wrist is Carpal tunnel Syndrome. Yo need to see an orthopedist to be sure.
A Baker cyst, also called a popliteal cyst, is swelling caused by knee joint fluid protruding to the back of the knee (popliteal area of the knee). When an excess of knee joint fluid is compressed by the body weight between the bones of the knee joint, it can become trapped and separate from the joint to form a fluid-filled sac, referred to as a Baker cyst. The name of the cyst is in memory of the physician who originally described the condition, the British surgeon William Morrant Baker (1839-1896).
