My mom's thumb is numb and swollen for days and no sign of hang nail. What could it be? -_-
Answer:She could have been bitten by an insect without knowing it (while sleeping) or come into contact with something she is allergic to. I would see a doctor since it is both numb and swollen.
If its warm to the touch it might be an infection. Somehow it got there either a small cut, sliver. It could be adema. It's also possible it's broken or sprained but there is usually pain associated with that. She might have some nerve damage. Basicly its a tough call. she has to see a doctor.
She might have " de Quervains Tendonitis.
