This is a sleeping question and its strange dose it happen to you and if so tell me about it

I had it happen one time and it scared the living crap out of me. I was falling asleep and I felt like someone had layed next to me, but no one was there and when I tried to move I couldn't. I was frozen. All I could do was scream in terror in my head until I was able to wake up. I could totally understand extreme fear. It's not normal to lose control of your body, but, if it kept happening to me I would have gone to a doctor. Thank goodness it was only the once. HTHs some and I hope you find some help for that. ;)

It's called sleep paralysis. It's a normal thing happening at an abnormal time.

When you sleep you go through different phases in which your brain is doing different things. It is in the deepest phase of sleep, called REM or delta sleep, that you dream. (REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement...researchers noticed that in this phase of sleep a person's eyes move rapidly behind their closed lids, as if they were watching some action occurring.)

When you are dreaming, in REM sleep, your brain paralyzes your body so you do not get up and act out your dreams. It's a protective mechanism. People who sleepwalk have a defect in that mechanism, so they aren't paralyzed.

Sleep paralysis is the opposite of sleepwalking. You are paralyzed but you wake up and are aware of it. Usually this happens when you are suddenly wakened while you are dreaming.

It happened to me once recently when the telephone by my bed rang in the middle of the night when I was deeply asleep...I woke up but was completely unable to move, not even open my eyes. I knew what was happening -- that it was sleep paralysis -- or I would have been sure I was having a stroke. I heard my son leave a message on my answering machine. I went back to sleep and then awoke normally. I thought about 45 minutes or an hour had passed since the phone rang, but when I called him back, he said it had only been about ten minutes.

It sounds far fetched to you I am sure, but I was told once when it happend to me it was a demon holding me down. Try googling sleep paralysis. You may find some helpful information.
