There is a mole on my back that recently got twice as big Should I be worried

I have a mole on my back, and up until recently it was small and not very noticible.

But within the last month or so, it got about twice as big. It is still basically circular, so i dont know if that means anything.

I'm 16 years old, but I play water polo and I am in the sun all the time. I live very close to the ocean, so im at the beach all the time, too.

Should I be worried about it?

Answer:

Any sudden change in the size, color, or appearance of a mole warrants evaluation by a physician. Melanomas are less common than carcinomas, but are much more dangerous because they tend to be more aggressive. There is a useful acronym which can be used to evaluate moles and other skin lesions for suspicious appearance:

A: Asymmetry(both halves of the mole should be the same color, size, and border)

B: Border (the border should be smooth and round, not jagged, irregular, scalloped, or notched)

C: Color (moles should generally be of a light brown shade, and should be the same color throughout the entire mole)

D: Diameter (moles should be about 1/4 of an inch, which is rounghly the size of a pencil eraser)

Get checked out immediately, while it may be nothing, you cannot take chances with your health. I hope everything turns out okay.

You need to see your primary care physician and he can tell you. You can also go to a dermatologist. Most likely, if it changes rapidly, it can be a pre-cancerous lesion, but not necessarily cancerous. See a doctor.
SEE YOUR DOCTOR AND DON'T WASTE TIME! GO RIGHT NOW!!!
Y E S !!!!!!! That is a sign of a precancerous mole if it isnt already cancer.
You should worry about any change in your skin. I would see a dermatologist. They will bend a razor blad and shave it right off and have it tested. Most likely it is some sort of carratosis (spelled horrible wrong). Basically, it is probably just protein and not menonoma.
Yes you do need to be worried, especially since you are in the sun all the time. You need to go and have it checked ASAP! Anytime a mole changes, you need to be concerned.
go see your doctor, and i wouldn't put it off... i don't want to worry you, but yes this can be serious.
