I have been told it is a rare disorder, not commonly seen among African Americans, but my ancestors on my father's side are Cuban and Jamaican. On my mother's side Indian and Scandanavian. I have the sickle cell trait, but this disorder complicates the sickle cell, and thus I suffer from sickle cell episodes. I was told the name years ago, since then I have had several strokes and I can't remember the name of this disorder. Can anyone help me?
Answer:Could you be dealing with a form of hemolytic anemia? Sometimes G6PD defiency (now there's a tongue twister).
The strokes can be a symptom of the underlying disorder in which not enough oxygen gets to parts of your body, n this case; not enough oxygen-rich blood getting to the brain.
hereditary spherocytosis...possibly
