Testing on herpes
you find out you have herpes, how do you find out how long you have had it? is there a test that is 100% showing that your partner has it and the person he slept with also ?
Answer:There is no way to know how long a person has had the virus.
Some people don't get their first outbreak of genital herpes for months or even years after they were infected which can make it difficult sometimes to determine who actually gave it to them.
Most people know, or seem to have an idea, of who gave them the virus, unless they are just sleeping around with multiple people, then it might be a little more difficult.
But, there is no test that will tell a person how long they have actually had the virus.
Also, most doctors diagnose genital herpes by a physical exam during a herpes outbreak. Fluid from the sores can also be taken. There is a blood test for herpes, but I've read it can sometimes be inaccurate by providing a false positive or an inconclusive result.
You have to be suffering from an "outbreak" for the doctor to know for sure. There is no way to test unless if the virus is dormant.
the only way to tell.
if youre someone who gets outbreaks and sores
youre first one will occur 10-20 days after first contact with the infection.
