Answer:I hate to shock you but everybody has E. coli, and plenty of it! It's normally found in the stool. In fact, about 25% of the total weight of the stool is bacteria!
What you're talking about is a specific strain of E. coli that is quite virulent. It's spread by ingesting the organism through fecal contamination of food or water. If your friend had it and she didn't wash her hands after having a bowel movement and then prepared food for you to eat, then you could get it from her. Otherwise, it's not likely you'll contract it from her.
