Sunscreen Question
I live in Tucson Arizona, and it's hot here right now. I'm using Banana Boat sunscreen SPF 30, is that sunscreen good enough for me? And will this type of sunscreen make my skin look darker? I would appreciate your answers. thanks
Answer:Having a sunscreen with SPF-30, usually provides better sun protection and less likely to get tanned than SPF-15 (if you want a tan, I suggest this one or lower).
It also depends on your ethnic background. Usually Asians, black Africans, and those with darker skin tones have more natural sun protection in their skin than white/caucasians due to melatonin. If you are dark-skinned, you probabily should go for the lowest SPF.
Okay, SPF 30 for example will allow you to stay outside in the sun 30 times longer than you could if you didn't have any sun screen on. Also, SPF allows the "good tanning rays" in, and keeps the "harmful" UV rays out. So, if you are trying to
lay out, I'd suggest SPF 15 but in a oil form so it draws the sn towards you. If you aren't trying to get darker I'd go with SPF 15+ that is in a lotion form.
SPF 30 would allow you to become tan at some point. But with most all sunscreens on the market they all also still allow sun damage to occur. One of the best things to do is to be able to take a break from the sun every 30-60 minutes for about 15 minutes and then return to the sun.
Also a newer product on the market Anthelios SX helps prevent sun damage by Filtering out the worst type of UV rays (UVA rays). If you want to read more about it check this out.

If you are going to use any sunscreen just make sure to re-apply it every hour. The most common sun care mis practice is not applying enough to begin with. So slather it on and re-apply :)
Hope these answers help.
