Sudden swelling in neck lasting for more than 6 weeks
Six Weeks ago I suddenly noticed that there is a swelling on right side of my neck roughly like a tennis ball - which had developed overnight after a light drinking session. The lump is under my ear and down along the throat. It is firm without any pain or unwell symptoms ( no coughs, night sweats, fever etc) . I went to see my doctor - After initial tests ( blood & X ray ) and a course of antibiotics, he could not find anything wrong and hence referred me to a hospital for further tests. I am still waiting for an appointment. I am bit concerned can anyone tell me what this condition is?
Answer:I had a lump like that once, but not for that long. Mine was due to a clogged saliva duct. It was clogged in my mouth, so saliva built up, but if I remember right, it was painful. Good luck finding out what is wrong with you.
If your doctor can't tell you after tests, what makes you think a random Internet Stranger will be able to? You can search online and read about others who had your symptom, but I'm sure there will be tons of people who had neck swelling and each of them had a different result.
I highly doubt that anyone would be able to give you a diagnosis based solely on your description of the symptoms.
I hope everything works out for you and your problem is well diagnosed and treated.
You could also look for possible conditions on websites like www.WebMD.com and such.
That sounds like goiter
