Answer:The most common symptoms of strep throat are a sudden, severe sore throat; pain or difficulty swallowing; fever over 101 F; swollen tonsils and lymph nodes; and white or yellow spots on the back of a bright red throat. Strep infection may also cause a headache and abdominal pain. Less commonly, strep throat can cause a red skin rash, vomiting, loss of appetite, and a general feeling of discomfort or illness.
Strep throat will go away in 3 to 7 days with or without treatment. However, strep throat is still treated with antibiotics even if they do not speed recovery. Antibiotics kill the strep bacteria, shorten the time you are contagious, and reduce the risk of complications, such as the infection spreading to other parts of your body. Antibiotics are effective in relieving symptoms of strep throat only if they are given within 48 to 72 hours after symptoms begin.1
i get get strep throat a lot, the way to tell is if you have a fever, fatigued, and you don't have to swallow your saliva for your throat to hurt, runny nose, headache, trouble sleeping.
Sore throat, the sensation that something is stuck in your throat, a feeling of not being well, if severe, you may also have a fever and headache. Why guess? Go to your doctor because strep throat in adults can be serious.
I got strep throat at least 2 times a year all the way till I was 19. It was bad. Believe me, you'll know. Your throat gets swollen, your ears hurt or ring, you can barely swallow anything (that includes liquids), and you can't close your mouth very well. Those were my symptoms. It even hurt to swallow your own spit!
Do you have a fever, stomach ache, nausea or white dots on your tonsils? If you have any of these it's most likely strep. With strep though it usually is a constant pain not just an on and off pain. If it is strep though it cannot go left untreated. Go see a doctor if it lasts a few more days. Hope you feel better soon!
I agree with the others. Go to the doctor. Another sign I had was white pus pockets on my tonsils.(infection) but they are not always present. I had strep throat so much as a kid that I am allergic to penicillen now but now they have lots of antibiodics for it. I out grew it by the time I was 17.
