Genetics. If stomach cancer runs in the family, it's a good idea to go for a G.I. endoscopy once each year.
We don't always know what causes cancer. I have worked a lot in cancer nursing, but the youngest stomach cancer case I ever saw was in her mid 30's. I've never seen a teenager with it. The reason most patients die from it is that it causes almost no symptoms until it is very advanced.
