So the supposed general rule of thumb is that you live by or die by the number of friendly bacteria
pathogenic bacteria in your gut. supposedly when you are born, you are inoculated with friendly bacteria from your mothers womb and breast milk and how healthy you stay after that depends on how you preserve or destro this friendly lactobacilli bacterias. is this true or just hogwash? and has any of you guys ever partaken of antibiotics and had serious digestive issue afterwards ?? because supposedly antibiotics kill all the ffriendly and unfriendly bacteria in the gut leaving you open to infestation by unfriendly bacteria from food and candida albicans??
Answer:The presence of a number of "friendly" bacteria, lactobacillus, e-coli, and others helps prevent certain pathogens from taking hold - specifically yeast infections like Candida Albacans.
This doesn't mean you die without the friendlys, but they are a help in more than just prevention of overgrowth my yeast - they also produce either Vitamin K or a Vitamin K precursor, which is necessary for normal coagulation in the blood (specifically the Intrinsic clotting pathway).
everything you've just said is true
most peopel devlop diarrhea after taking a course of antibiotics
if you need to take them again, EAT YOGURT
that replenishes the lactobacilli often until the rest of the normal flor grows back in.
Natrol makes a great pro-biotic that is guaranteed to have live cultures (the same thing you get from yogurt). I always take them when I take an antibiotic but you should also take them even when your not, just for good health. They help in a number of way besides stomach upset, etc. that occurs when you take an antibiotic.
