Shortness of breath, heart palpitations and other symptoms
Whenever I am relaxing or trying to fall asleep, I start to get heart palpitations and it really freaks me out! Sometimes I get this with shortness of breath, and I get very alert and worried because it feels like my heart is getting larger and pumping very hard.
A few weeks ago I also had a random, very sharp pain that occured in my chest for about 5 seconds (could this maybe be because I was exercising a lot that day?) I am not a stressed/nervous person with anxiety, but I get VERY anxious every time this happens to me.
I only have caffeine about 2 times a month. I'm 17 years old and very athletic. Any suggestions as to what this might be? I would love to go to the doctor for this but it happens randomly and sometimes just for a little while... it doesn't give enough time for me to make it to a doctor and get testing. What should I do?
Answer:Regardless of when or how long you experience these symptoms you really need to see a doctor. These symptoms could be as minor as an anxiety attack(which is really not a minor symptom at your age), to something major, even fatal like heart problems. Symptoms are gifts given to us so that we realize when something is not right. DON'T IGNORE THEM !!!!
YOU NEED TO GO TO DOC ASAP! IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT THING.. PLZ GO TO DOC
anxiety, look into it
To me (and I'm not a medical professional) it sounds like what I have - Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I used to have the same symptoms, and it turned out I was having a lot of stress/anxiety at the same time and just not realizing it.
