Severe Myopia

Just curious if anyone with high myopia (-6 and higher) has had any problems as they aged in regards to their eyes. I'm in my 20's and I've had -6/-7 for the last five years (only minute changes in my prescription). My doctor said my eyes are healthy, but because of the thin retina, I have more of a risk for things like retina tears. Just wondering if other people with severe myopia do anything extra to protect their eyes or if there are any ways to help improve your myopia.

Answer:

I found a good website with tips for protecting your eyesight. I was surprised to read that about half of all children develop myopia by the time they are 12.
