Scalded 1 Week ago, LOOKS awful
if you were one of the kind people who replied to my desperate question last week, here i go again!
Its turned a dark purple colour and my skin is quite rough, it itches a little and i am reluctant to get into a bath!
Will it scar?
When will it return to normal??
Should i go to hospital?
All answers welcome!
(I'm going to a wedding in Aug and this is not good!)
Answer:I'm so sorry, it sounds horrible...
Gosh, the exact same thing happened to me! I took a cup of tea to bed with me to drink while reading a book & I just turned my wrist & . it's really painful & I had to wait till mroning to get to a doctor for emergency, they gave me a cream which really helped. it does go a funny colour but that went after a short while (it was about 6 years ago).
if u go to hospital, they'll give you a healing cream, otherwise if you want to get ur own (if u go to any pharmacy or even health shop, they'll recommned one for you) but it's cheaper if you go to the hospital!
don't worry it should be gone by august.
plaster it in vaseline
the burns unit use jelonet .....gauze impregnated with vaseline
You need to see a doctor. Do not put vasaline on it. It could damage the tissue. See a doctor please, they can prescribe medications and creams to help heal the skin.
Burns hurt like hell, and itch for quite a while as they are healing. The skin will peel too as part of the healing process. What's not normal is pus. Bathe it tenderly with cool water. You can use something soothing like aloe vera, but you should keep it clean and covered. Keeping an ice pack on it also will help. If there was a blister, there might be a scar.
Do you have blisters from the scalding? Have you been applying an antibiotic ointment, like Neosporin, to the burn area? That will help with healing and lessen scarring, but how much scarring you have depends upon your genetics. Some people scar easily and others don't.
