SHINGLES NEED Help
My sister just found out she has shingles and they are very close 2 her eye, they r starting 2 crust over though!
How long do they last?, What are the chanshes of her getting one in her eye? Is there anyway to make them go away faster?? PLZZZ Help! She got the rash about a week ago.
Answer:Speaking from experience here..I had mine on the right side of my face, and it did get into my eye. I was put on Valtrex but I think it was too late by the time they diagnosed it as shingles. You have to get to it pretty quickly to attack the virus.
Even though she has started to crust over, she is still contagious. It took a long time for mine to clear up, before I could get back to work, but I did work with kids, so that is why I had to wait for a while.
If the virus is on her face, she should go to an eye doctor just to make the virus has not gotten into her eye. Do not go to one of the eye glass stores, but to an actual opthamologist.
If she has not started on any meds yet, she is just going to have to wait it out.
Tell her I know how she feels, and how painful (and gross) it is. Just tell her to get LOTS of rest, and drink lots of fluids. It will end eventually. Although I have permanent nerve damage, I hope she doesn't have that too.
Give her my best!
who told her she had shingles? If it was a doctor he should have given her treatment, if it wasn't then I very much doubt it was shingles.
She needs to take care not to touch the spots and then her eye as she could spread the infection. If she hasn't already done so, she should see her doctor and get some antibiotics and maybe painkillers.
Your sister needs to get to the doctor immediately. They need to understand that her eye is threatened. Yes, shingles (herpes) can spread to the eye and cause big time problems. The doctor can give your sister medicine to ease the occurrence.
