Retention cyst in right maxillary antrum
i recently got a brain MRI and im having trouble deciphering the report it reads
Proceidure: Multiplanar imaging through the brain was obtained with and without contrast
Findings: no abnormal signal within brain parenchyma. no enhancing lesions after administration of contrast
the cut coronal T2 weighted images through the temporal lobes show symmetric appearance of the temporal lobes without abnormal signal or enhancement the temporal lobes are symmetric and normal in morphology
no areas of restricted diffusion to suggest acute infarction
visualized intracranial flow-voids are present
no midline shift or mas effect no obvious extra axial pathology no hydrocephalus
the midline structures including cerebellomedullary junction are within normal limits visualized bone marrow is within limIts
there is a retention cyst in the right maxillary antrum
Impression: Unremarkable brain MRI
Answer:Retention cysts are common and mostly not problematic. They are sacks of fluid that develop in various parts of the body. They are not cancerous.
I had one situated in a sinus. In my case, it was putting pressure on a blood vessel and in turn causing severe headaches. The ENT specialist was able to reduce the cyst using drugs; the next step would have been surgery, which would have been performed through the nose.
I am six months out of treatment and feeling fine.

sounds like you're ok. why not call your doc and ask them to go over it in detail for you? they owe you that!!
this sentence at the end says you're ok:
Impression: Unremarkable brain MRI
(however, it could also be the makings of a good joke ;) )
this page talks about the cyst you have. it's common apparently.
