It was in a country where the Doctors spoke very little English and I have no understanding of what happened. I often wonder if the outcome would have been the same if he had been in another hospital. I would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me.

Answer:

nothing can be done for a burst aorta. this is the biggest artery in the body. If it had happended in his own country with surgeons standing by nothing could of been done to save him.

Im so sorry for your loss. your dad would of felt no pain and it would of happended really quickly. Please take care and again Im so sorry. nothing would of been able to save your dad so please don`t feel in any way that you have let anyone down xxxxx

No one can know for sure. A doctor could look at his records and speculate, but that is it.
I'll be honest with you. Stats say that when a patient is brought to a hospital after their aorta has burst, 80% will die. It is EXTREMELY fatal, even when treated rapidly. Prevention would have been the only way to increase his odds I fear. Internal bleeding is rapid and immense when the aorta bursts.
First, I am sorry to hear that you lost your father.

Well you haven't offered a lot for us to go on. I would not be too concerned about the doctors not speaking English. A burst aorta looks the same no matter what language you speak. Assuming you were in a country with reasonable medical care, I don't see the language barrier being a treatment barrier.
