A question about allergy shots

health advisory Hospital Diseases 2007-11-12 17:57:51

I have had really bad allergies for the past year, and I think I might be getting allergy shots soon. I'm wondering, are there specific "shots" for specific allergies, or is it just a general shot?

Answer:

The doc will put tiny painless scratches on your back and introduce different plant matter and see what your reaction is---if you are allergic he has a little meter he uses and can tell how severe from the meter. He will also do the same for foods. Then a shot is developed for you and you alone. You will take them over a series of months--it will be well worth it. I have had the tests and shots. Makes a miserable person a happy one. You will have an itchy back for a bit and then your arm will swell and itch when you get the shots but it is worth it.

There are specific shots for different allergies..it depends what u are allergic to...You can get up to 3 shots at a time..Did u get tested yet to see what the allergies are? That's where u have to begin...being tested..
