I agree with eat well...cut calories... and get busy working out.
But..If I had to pick a true diet....I liked the Zone diet. I used it for a year and have maintained a lower weight because of what I learned on the diet. I basically learned portion control and was reminded of what to eat.

I am going to disagree here. Most diets and weight loss programs are temporary fixes that cause you to gain more weight once you are done. Atkins for example, the high protein high fat diet, causes your body to forget how to live on carbs (you have to) and when you finally do start another carb intake, you store fat.
In MOST cases, finding either exercises, or forms of activity that require you to exercise to better your performance, is the best way. That way you will stay consistent (whoever gives up something they love) versus working out to stare at yourself in the mirror.
