I know one thing. When I was dieting my hair started just falling out by the handfuls it seemed like. It thinned a lot. A nutritionist told me i needed more fatty acids.
Fats help you absorb the nutrition in other foods. A dietician said spaghetti with tomato sauce and olive oil is better than just plain tomato sauce because you absorb more of the nutrients. It's also good for your digestion, skin, hair, etc.
