Hooved animals walk on their fingernails and toenails. Their legs are modified so that the "hands" and "feet" are the lower leg. Usually the metatarsal bone is lengthened. The "ankle" joint is higher up on the leg.

its because they are cloven hooved (claws) If they had toes they would need a ankle to flex them.
Their ankle joint is actually just further up the leg. A bit like a dog.
