Why dont I feel the burn in my butt or back of thigh muscles when I use those machines in gym

I always feel the burn on my front thigh muscles. I want to build the back of my legs up. I am using the right machines, I know this much (each machines specifies what areas are targeted). Help?

Answer:

If you are sure you are using the right machines, then maybe your technique is a little out? Ask one of the trainers/supervisors at your gym to check if you're using them properly. They are there to help you!

You should ask the gym worker to go over using the machines with you. If you are not making exact movements with the machines it can totally throw off your muscle gain. Usually the gym staff is trained to show you how to use the equipment.
Maybe you are more fit than you think in your buttock and rear thighs.

Try pulling weeds, that always does it for me! Those machines are not as effective as free weights.

Squats are great whole leg exercises. For the backs of your thighs(hamstrings) try lying leg curls but focus on hamstring contraction not weight movement. Focus on contraction and slow your repetition speed.
i don't care what people say, you can spot reduce. especially the inner thigh, butt, and back of the thigh. get on all fours, then rest on your elbows, extend either leg and hold for 5 seconds. bring it back in to a bent knee, then extend it again for 5- do as many as you can handle. another great butt/back of thigh exercise is laying on your back, bending your knees, hands flat by your sides and arms straight, lift your pelvis up to the ceiling slowly, and back down again. you feel it right away.
