Why do I keep gaining more weight after running

In the morning I would run/hike 3 hours straight.... and when I weight myself afterwards I lost 6 pounds. Then by that night I weight myself before bed and I have gained 8 pounds!!!!!!

I usually drink lots of water/no calorie soda like Fruit2O.... and usually eat a lot. But not much more than usual....

What the hell is going on???????

Is this bad for me????????????

You will always weigh more at night than in the morning due to eating, water, etc. Your "real" weight is what you weigh in the morning right after your morning urination.


What you lost was water weight, not "real" weight or fat, and it was replaced throughout the day. Resist the temptation to weigh yourself every day, once a week is fine.
The only thing I can think of is to check the scale, make sure its working right.
Your building muscle mass.
I would assume it's water retention. When your working out you sweat a lot and if your weighing yourself right aftewards, the water weight isn't there. Throughout the day if your drinking water and eating healthy then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It happens to me too.
Well when you run, you do not burn 21,000 calories (6x3,500), so you did not lose bodyfat. You lost water weight and became dehydrated. So you are replacing it. Are you training for a marathon. A gallon of water weighs 9 pounds.
