your body needs the oxygen which your breathing provides and pumps it round the body via your blood. the blood is pumped around faster when your circulation is faster due to exercise.
if there is not enough oxygen (you actually need more when you're exercising, hence the tendency to breathe shorter and faster during exercise) your blood will not be able to pump the required amount to each muscle which results in cramps that are known as "stitches" in the stomach (usually one side of the stomach).
so do some breathing exercises as well as stretching your muscles during a longer warm up session before exercising and during a longer cooling down session after exercising.
good luck
You have to adopt the right breathing technique, through the nose and out the mouth and deeply
A stitch has to do with your breathing, basically you're taking in to much air and not letting it out as quickly. Try breathing a bit slower and make sure you axhale properly. Also when you get a stitch lift your hands to your head and hold your breath for as long as you can and exhale slowely, it will be gone in seconds.
