I don't understand why models are held to increasingly tougher standards to be thin, while the rest of America is getting fatter?

Answer:

amreica is a fat country.

seriously. (you can't avoid fast food resturants!)

and models are skinny because of that.

skinny is "pretty" and fat is "unattractive"

so models just take this to extremes and lose all the weight they can because to them, the skinnier, the prettier.

there are also lots of models who become anorexic or bulemic because of the pressure to be perfect and the stress they undergo...

you have to remember though,

that having an eating disorder is just that.

its a DISORDER

people cant control it like they can anything else. it practically consumes their whole lives. so even though those models are all skin and bones, they may look at themselves and see fat...

its sad but true.

The people are subconsciously absorbing all the fat the models deny themselves. It must be.

b/c the ppl in the fashion industry like to set themselves apart from regular ppl...they do not want anyone to consider them "average"...
