Which sneakers are best for "sleepy feet" on the elipitcal machines

My feet (near the ball of my foot and toes) go numb about 20 min. into my workout, which I was told was called "sleepy feet" and is somewhat common when using the eliptical machine. Im trying to find out if there are a pair of sneakers that are better then the rest to prevent this and be able to continue with the workouts with minimal discomfort.

Answer:

I have New Balance but I still have that problem. My shoes are getting to the point of needing to be replaced, so maybe that is why I am experiencing "sleepy feet".

New Balance. Expensive but last forever and feel great!
This is normal.

Try to clench and release your toes within the trainers during exercise and try not to tie them too tightly.

After a few weeks it should get better.

I doubt there are any trainers designed to stop this.

I never knew this was a common occurence. I too get sleepy feet on the stepper and it usually kicks in on the 25th minute. I've tried all my sneakers from running shoes to crosstrainers and none of them seem to help. I just try to wiggle my toes when I start feeling the pre-numb tinglyness.
It helps if I try to "Pick up" my foot a little bit. I think it's not your sneakers. I think its the elliptical machine that does it.
new balance, especially those without mesh. they are just as expensive as nike, but has WAY better quality than them. oh, and sometimes wearing your shoes without socks helps too :)
