Like is it a wax? Do they do the inside? Do they clean the tires? Etc Etc?

Answer:

depending on level of detail usually a through cleaning cleaning of plastic components and exterior wheels and paint cleaned and waxed or polished. Should make your car as clean as it can possible be cleaned.

Disagree on the engine compartment most do not clean the engine compartment due to electronic devices that can be damaged.

vacuumning the inside, cleaning all thw windows, dash, doors, seats, etc...washing the outside, drying and waxing...puting protectant on the tires to make them look black.

A detail is a very thorough cleaning of the inside and out. Yes they wax the outside, and clean the tires and use something similar to Armour All inside and out. They vacuum the inside, and the trunk if you want. The inside and outside windows and windshield are cleaned and mine uses RainX on the outside after washing. This can set you back as it usually costs me $100.00, but they shampoo the carpet and the seats.

Washing, waxing, polishing, vacuuming out the inside (Lock your glove box), tires, dash, windows/windsheild inside and out... it's just inside/outside cleaning to perfection.

The level of detailing depends on what you pay for.

Some folks can even spray that "new car scent" in your interior.

Some places will charge a couple of bucks - some a lot!

detailing is a package of services that they offer!

some packages offers more then the other, those cost more, you would have to read the sign in what it entails.

some have upholstery cleaning, carpet cleaning, car scent, engine cleaning a large range of services.
