Try bicycling, it is the best you can do with the bad knee. Also free weights can be some help, but it takes a lot of time and determination. It helps to have a workout partner to provide motivation when you just don't feel like going to the gym. If the knee is arthritic a tandem bike is smoother and more protective of the joint.-----Good luck.----PeeTee
My best suggestion is start out with walking. Start by walking 30 minutes a day and gradually increase the amount also by speed. If you are trying to lose weight eat healthy, incorporating a lot of protein, fruits and vegtables into your diet.

Another suggestion is sitting down on a chair and raising your knee up and down. You can also get five pound weights and sitting down lift them up and down.


Bicycling is great. I have bad knees and from time to time have to take breaks from walking and on-the-feet activities. It helps greatly. Not only is it low-impact, it also helps to strengthen your knee muscles, so it kills two birds with one stone. There is also a program called 'chair-yoga- for people with joint problems. Stick with your program, the more weight you lose, the better your knees will feel. Best of luck to you!!
