What do I need to add to my diet to improve my alertness
My diet consists mainly of things I can cook or heat up quickly, as I work shifts and don't often have time to cook anything big. I try to include fruit and vegetables whenever I can but it's not always possible.
Recently I've been getting tired a lot during the day, but then I find I can't always sleep at night. Sometimes it's the opposite and I go into a deep sleep and don't always wake up to my alarm. I'm worried that this is because I'm not getting the right amount of things from my diet.
Can anybody suggest the types of food I need to add?
Answer:Protein increases alertness and helps give you more energy. The calming effect from carbohydrates and the energizing effect from protein provide a good balance. To pep yourself up, try eating eggs, low fat cheese, milk, tofu, lean meats, fish, legumes, turkey, and/or lean beef.
Eat turkey as it contains tryptophyn (spelling) that promotes sleep. I personally add coffee to my diet to enhance alertness.
Different types of spices can be good. Peppermint, or sometimes just mint-flavored stuff can kick your brain into gear.
(I eat mints to stay awake in boring classes.) Try mint gum
i think u should change your diet a little bit. try do drink milk before u sleep. u might be lacking of a lot of nutrients if u keep heating your food. do u eat breakfast regularrly?
