What could I be doing wrong

health advisory Diet Diet 2007-11-11 21:03:06

I work out 5 nights a week for 1 1/2 - 2 hours...running, kickboxing, resistance machines, bike. I eat decent (varying between 1700 and 2100 calories and 25-30 grams of fiber per day), but I'm hungry ALOT and I've gained about 5 pounds since December. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it??

Answer:

You're probably burning a lot of calories and adding on more muscle. Besides all the exercise you're doing, muscle can actually burn calories when you're not exercising. Make sure you're getting the proper vitamins and other nutrients, but if you want to speed up the weight loss process, add more vegetables to your diet. Most of them are negative calories (meaning your body burns more calories digesting the food than the food actually has) so you can eat larger quantities and help suppress hunger. You should also try lean protein, since your body is trying so hard to build muscle. Good luck!

You are hungry because you are burning up a lot of calories. You've gained weight because you've put on muscle tissue.

I bet you look and feel great!

Eat foods that digest very slowly; such as banannas, apples, almonds, canned white chicken breast, oranges, carrots, and eat one of each item every 3-4 hours. Also, do the resistance machines every OTHER day. The body needs rest. And instead of running and kickboxing, try doing jumping jacks.
