i am thinking of joining the track team from my high school. i'll be enroling there in a few months and i was thinking of joining the track team to help my lose weight and proabaly get some killer legs. anyway i wanted to know if they expect you to run fast? i can run pretty fast but im a bit slow...OH! and if anyone is in the track team, how many laps do they make you run? have you lost weight? thanx!!!

YOU LOSE TONS OF WEIGHT DOING TRACK BUT SINCE YOU COMPETE YOU ARE EXPECTED TO RUN FAST OR AT LEAST BE ABLE TO DO LONG DISTANCE BUT IF NOT YOU SHOULD PROBALLY BE GREAT AT THE ALTERNITIVES LIKE SHOTPUT,LONGJUMP.... ECT. AND THERE IS NO LIMIT TO HOW MUCH YOU RUN BECAUSE ITS TRACK. MY COACH MADE US RUN BETWEEN 9-16 LAPS A DAY.... AND THATS A LOT TO ENDURE


Track team is for running distances. Usually run 1.5-2 miles each meet.
Everyone that joins makes the team, unless the whole school joins, lol. But I think they'd find the appriopiate race for you to run.

My friend lost weight and got toned legs.

Cross-country is the long distance. Race is the 100 meter, 500 meter stuff and sometimes with hurrdles.


well i'm in tha track team, first year ever for any sport, i am kinda fast, last practice i ran about 5 and a half or so miles, lol, like nothing, i do the 800 a lil sprinting and possibly the mile, oh and the four by four, depends what u do to how many laps ur gonna do, everyone here has to do atleast 2 which is half a mile just to warm up, u are expected to run atleast competively, i mean u don't wanna end a race five minutes after everyone else lol, if u want "killer legs" lol, then u don't neccesarily have to join track, u can just run on your own at your own pace, or go to the gym, my leg muscles grew tremendously doing squats and leg extensions, so its up to you :)
