Wisdom teeth being CUT out from below the gum tomorrow HELP

health advisory Hospital Dentists Yu 2007-11-11 18:18:51

Okay so I already had anothe post but it didnt really explain itself before, I am going to have my four wisdom teeth cut out tomorrow and they are going to have to put me under because they are laying sideways below the gum, so anyway they are saying they are going to give me Lortab 7.5 but I have a high tolerance for pain meds and a low tolerance for pain, I know it sounds weird but I was hoping to get Percocet (oxycodone & tylenol) what do you think the chances are that they will give me that? Also they are giving me penecillin, phenergan, a steriod and pain meds so I think it's going to hurt like he** does it? Which pain med do you think would work the best?

Thanks in advance!

Answer:

First of all, relax. You will get through this. I had this done too. It hurts, yes, but you will get through this. Explain to your surgeon that you have a high tolerance for painkillers.

You're probably going to swell up. The best way to combat this (and take some of the pain away without meds) is to get four of the small bags of frozen corn (the ones that are about 6" by 6". Corn stays frozen longer and is still malleable, carrots aren't) and a NEW pair of pantyhose you don't want to use again. Put one bag in each leg of the hose just near the crotch portion of the hose and tie it off so it's secure, but you can open it again later, and position it so it's as close as you can get to your swollen cheeks and then tie off the legs on top of your head in a big easty to take off bow. Switch off the bags when they thaw too much to be helpful.
