What are the treatments for a periodontitic patient?? When my cousin was diagnosed periodontitic on his upper gum, the periodontist told him to let his wounded gum (referring to the pocket) to recover by itself, and the periodontist performed a general cleaning on his gum (mainly on his lower gum), instead of a deep cleaning on the affected upper gum. Will there be a further loss of bone if there is no deep cleaning on the pocket?? Will the pocket heal by itself completely?? It has been 9 days since the general cleaning was done on his gum, and although there is a little improvement, however, he can still feel the nerve of the affected tooth especially when his lower tooth touches the affected upper tooth, and he is still unable to chew his food on the affected tooth. Is this temporary?? He feels rather uncomfortable. Are his gum and tooth healing??

Go to another dentist. In the process of bone loss (pockets) there is always a follow up. You need to check to see if it was successful. Google Hand Scaling and Root Planeing to see the process and outcome.

did they give him antibiotics??? if not he should get some from a doctor.

i had deep cleaning and scaling on my upper teeth and lower teeth ..he should ask his dentist if they are going to do the upper teeth ...and get some antibiotics if his teeth still hurt...where they did the cleaning it might be a little sore for the first couple days ....call the dentist and tell them it still hurts better safe then sorry
