I've just turned 20 and finally decided to get braces. I'm currently at uni and I also work in customer service. I was wondering if getting braces will effect the way people respond to me.

Braces are so common and widely accepted these days that most folks won't even pay attention to your wearing them.

at least that is what i was called. but i wouldnt care what people thought. i know at least 3 people who are older than you and have braces. nothing wrong with that.

well it depends, most braces nowadays are pretty good at being discrete. unfortunately there are still some people out there that will look at you differently with them on...however most people in this modern world will understand that it's necessary for you to use them and won't mind. besides, it'll only be for a year or 2

Well nowadays ppl as old as 60 get braces!!!! Society is no longer in the belief that braces are only for the young....it is for all ages. But you have to be first comfortable with getting braces and then be confident about it, that way ppl around you will not think you are ashamed of them or sumthing like that.
