what is it in dentistry that is good
Answer:Its a rewardable job for those who would want to be in the healthcare industry but lacks the passion to become a medical doctor (the long hours, the need to provide emotional support for your patient, the responsibility of having someone's life resting in your hands). Not saying that a dentist don't have the deal with these things, but its definitely to a lesser extent. Being a dentist is financially rewarding, and there is a status factor (though not as respected as doctors by community, but definitely second). You carry the title of a doctor, you work and interact with fellow human beings, and your job scope is focused on one area of the body. In other words, your education is actually a specialist's training without having to go through 5 yrs of medical school and going through every part of the human body. Also, being in dentistry provides a platform to contribute to the greater good in society - forensic dentistry (help identify victims in a tsunami, fire, planecrash); oral maxillofacial surgery (perform corrective surgery on ppl wif congenital defects in their jaws tat impedes food intake, speech, or accident survivors with serious facial injuries). Another factor is if you have good hands (you used to build playdoh houses, ppl with only your hands, or play wif paper mache when young) and a dentist works like an artist. The crowns, veneers, all these are works of art and to have your work of art make ppl look better and feel better for themselves is a satisfaction many artists would kill for.
It is fairly simple work, but the schooling is very long and spendy. But it definately pays off...Very high paying job.

The question is what is not so good. The money is good, you help people, you pretty much set your own hours, so what couldn't be good about it.
Helping people. Visiting with people. Becoming friends with your patients over the years. Having their friendship and respect.
