Why am i getting sharp pains in my teeth from the cold
is started happening after i got my braces put on
Answer:Because you've got a lot of metal that retains the cold longer when your out in the cold weather and the brackets are resting on your tooth like an ice cube and it's transmitting the cold to the tooth's nerve faster and longer. Try not to open your mouth when your outside as much or warm the brackets with your lips and tongue more often when you are. This is the reason for chapped lips with braces too. You do a lot more wetting the lips when you have braces especially when your outside. If you have any silver or amalgam fillings you know they respond to cold foods faster and give you the same type of sensation. That's because of the metal transmitting the cold just like the brackets do. Hope I was able to help you understand this.
I have braces too, and mine tend to go that. I think it is becuase when the metal gets cold it puts cold on your teeth. You might have sensitive teeth too. Ask your orthodontist next time you go in.
this happened to me to. i tink its the metal that holds the cold. you should get a desensitizing toothpaste.

I have always had sensitive teeth (but I had to get braces to pull ONE tooth into place and now that tooth is especially sensitive) I would just trying brushing w/ toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. It helped me out.
