maybe its too minty, or your swallowing a bit by accident!! try not putting so much in, maybe just half a mouth full
Either the flavor is repulsive, too strong, or your gag reflex is working overtime. Can you gargle with water without gagging? If you can, then try a nice tasting product from the health food store. Tell them you gag on strong stuff, and they can show you something lighter in flavor, which'll still give you the refreshment & some protection (and you can thin it some with water if you need).

It may be that the flavor is too minty or mediciney for you. I personally like mint flavor but the strength of it burns so I either water my mouthwash down a little or use Crest Pro-Health which is a lot milder and easy to use.
Mabe to see if gargling in general is the problem, try to gargle with plain water. If you succeed, then it is the flavor that probably bothers you. If you can't gargle plain water, then that is a sign that you can't gargle, period! Good luck!
