My friend went to the dentist with toothache, and was told that as she was a NHS patient she would have to pay for the treatment, or wait untill April for the new tax year.

WHY...

Becuase the dentist surgeries had run out of money to treat NHS patients.

What are you views on this and why.

Answer:

I think it is disgusting that someone should have to suffer the pain of tooth ache if they can't afford to pay a dentist for private treatment. I have had problems with my teeth in the past and because I had not been registered with an NHS dentist I would not go for treatment because of the cost. It is even difficult to get a child registered with an NHS dentist now. We pay our national insurance money but we no longer see any benefits to it. The country is going to the dogs. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I think that the reason the NHS cannot afford to pay for dentistry is because the dentists get paid far too much money. They get paid much more than physicians for poking around in your mouth, whereas doctors cover everything.

You think that's bad ? Go to America, you will be left to die in the street if you don't have health insurance.

The NHS is poor but it's better than nothing.

well i have to say i work and i have to pay and I'm sick of going into a dentist and I'm the only one paying......some people on benefit's have more money than me.... people should pay...but there are people coming into this county and getting free treatment and have paid no stamps..... why should they get free treatment and your Friend get turned away...

Hi, This government sucks its all wrong the nsh should not be in trouble. Why does labour give so much money to other countries but not ours. in Southampton they want to put a stupid light show on the main clock (with tax payers money) but the outer areas have bad roads and paths. They all so put the council tax up but surely with all the apartments being built in the city with the extra tax from them then it should go down. I think that we all need to strike in London and show labour that we need them and we can brake them.

nhs makes me laff i've been without a front tooth for 2 yrs now i work hard pay my ni and tax and where does it get me?? no where i'm lucky i have a dentist 2 of my kids don't and i cant get them in

Yes, but we do pay for our treatment though NHS stamps and pay extra taxes on top of our taxed earnings , so why should we pay for private treatment.
