i hope this question makes sense. but i have a white calcium deposit that lines my gum on my tooth. i have had dental hygienists ask me if i had braces, because it is usually something they see with people who have had braces. when i tell them, no, i did not have braces, they dont believe it, but then they kind of look puzzled. is there something in my development that could have caused this deposit? for instance, maybe i did not get enough calcium? this question has been bugging me for awhile, mostly because i would like to decipher why they looked so puzzled. i felt they knew something i didnt. thank you.

Answer:

mine isnt white, your probably lacking in a vitamins because im sure that it means that your gum line is weak.

try and start taking daily vitamin tablets and see what happens

but it could mean that you could be eating too many acidic food like, lemons, oranges etc which can result in a chemical reaction against your gums.

I have that, but its because I have an infection in my mouth and I put anesthetics on it. and then it dries my gum and it becomes white.

That is the beginning stages of cavities, This is a bit softer area in you teeth. You need to use lots of floride, tooth paste and mouthwash ACT is good. with floride will help. Floride will make these areas on your teeth get harder again and help to prevent them from worstening.

teeth are made of calcium and so are our nails

i know that when we hit or nail (but not to the point of bruising it) we get a white line/dot and that is calcium deposit buildup

i don't think it is really a bad thing
