Harmful effects of novacaine orally???
Answer:None. In fact, you'd have to drink even more than Dr. Katie pointed out because absorption through the digestive tract is negligible for anesthetics (they can't cross membranes when they are near strong acids). It tastes terrible, but beyond that there is no real effect.
Well, we don't use Novocaine anymore, since the 50's because a lot of people have a serious reaction to it (allergy to PABA). The main anesthetic we use is Lidocaine. The amount of Lidocaine that is in a carpule is about 36mg and there is .018mg of epinephrine. You would have to ingest a lot (drink 8 carpules) of lidocaine before I would be worried. I hope this helps.
