What if Im allergic to the drugs used for deep cleaning
I'm going to see a gum specialist for deep cleaning tomorrow morning. I'm very scared. What if I'm allergic to the drugs used for the deep cleaning? How long is the procedure for each treatment. Will it make the gum or tooth sensitive? Is there any food (like cold and hot drinks) that I should avoid after deep cleaning? Does brushing under morning cold tap water makes the gum/tooth ache after deep cleaning treatment? I brush my teeth 2 to 3 times per day & floss once every day. Is there other any home maintenace after deep cleaning.
PLEASE HELP TO ANSWER ASAP. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Answer:CHRIS,
What the dentist (periodontist) will do is called scaling and root-planning. This can either be surgical or not, depending on your case. The most important thing you need to do is to maintain your teeth/gums clean and healthy for a lifetime.
HOW?
USING A WATERPIK TO CLEAN YOUR TEETH/GUMS DAILY.
DOING SO WILL KEEP YOU FROM NEEDING TO HAVE THIS IN THE FUTURE.
BEGIN WITH THE GENTLEST IRRIGATOIN SETTING ON THE WATERPIK UNTIL THE GUMS ARE HEALED -- ABOUT1WEEK.
THERE SHOULD BE LITTLE DISCOMFORT AFTER THE TREATMENT. USE WARM, NOT COLD/HOT WATER.
Chris, this is really something you should ask the dentist, in my opinion. And there's nothing wrong with being scared of going to the dentist.
I sort of go through the same thing.
