I got mine on in November. Basically they will I think clean your teethe one more time(not all dentists). THen they will put a mouthe stretcher on so they can see all your teethe. Your teeth need to be dry so they will somehow dry them. Then one by one they cement on little brackets and then once they are dry they will connect the wire through them and cut the extra of the wire at the back. The wire putting on part hurts the most. They will take a panorex x-ray and do bite molds of your teeth from which to establish a treatment plan. They have developed new methods but I went in and they glued brackets to the teeth and fit wires to them and they change the wires and tighten depending on how and where they want to move the teeth. It isn't painless but tylenol for a bit after tightening really helps and it is well worth it. I had to have an opening made for a bridge as a tooth never developed.

They clean your teeth and then put this stuff on to make them rough so that the braces will stick on to your teeth. They also put these silver bands around your back teeth to anchor the braces and the glue they use is the worst tasting stuff i have ever had in my mouth. Then they are all wired up and your whole mouth hurts like hell for about a week. Oh and your teeth will be so sore that you wont be able to eat proper food.

It depends on what exactly they are doing. Usually they will take impressions of your teeth (kinda like sinking your teeth into silly putty) and they make a mold. From there, they figure out how they are going to work on your teeth. Before you get braces or other hardware, they put spacers between your back molars for a few days. The actual day of getting braces, they will put a device in your mouth to hold it open and go from there. You sit alot and the assistant and the ortodontist go back and forth in your mouth. It should not be painful, but will not be the most comfortable thing in the world.

I am actually in the process of getting braces. On my first visit, they took x-rays and took a mold of my teeth, then I went back 2 weeks later to discuss payment options, what they will be doing and that I needed to get extractions and spacers. I just got my extractions and I get spacers on the 22nd and braces on the 29th. Your appointments may or may not go in order, but will probably be somewhat similar.
