I recently consumed nine orthadontal 3 mm rubber bands. i keep trying to put them on my brackets, but i end up swallowing them. hypathetically, what will happen to me?

Answer:

Probably nothing, you will more than likely just pass them in your next few bowel movements. Be more careful though....try not to swallow anymore...:-) Good Luck!

As the bands were designed to be in your mouth you can be confident that they aren't toxic and are pretty resilient to the acids that we have in our digestive system (mouth, stomach) They will pass through unscathed I imagine.

They'll all come out in the end. Don't worry. I swallowed most of my spacers in the beginning of my orthodontic adventure and I consumed quite a few elastics while I was getting the hang of hooking them on. I've also shot them across the house while trying to attach them in the opposite direction--I've had my braces off for 3 years and I'm still finding them everywhere. :)
