my friend swallowed some gauze during a meal. he had it in his mouth after going to the dentist. does it digest or pass through easily?
Answer:I'm a dentist.
That's a tough one. Very likely it will make its way through his digestive tract and be incorporated into one of his subsequent stools.
However, since it is a foreign body that is not digestible, he should check his stools for the next day or two to make sure that he sees the gauze in it, otherwise he should see a gastroenterologist.
Assuming that it did not get caught in his throat, he should pass it in his stool. He should monitor his stool to see that it does pass. If he does not see evidence of that, he should seek medical attention. As any foreign object lodged in the body can set one up for sepsis and it could actually cause a blockage in the intestines.
it will pass or he will s--t bandages
For a moment you will have cotton mouth! LOL!!! Nothing major happens, you will pass it.
