my friend swallowed some gauze during a meal. he had it in his mouth after going to the dentist. does it digest or pass through easily?

However, since it is a foreign body that is not digestible, he should check his stools for the next day or two to make sure that he sees the gauze in it, otherwise he should see a gastroenterologist.

If he does not see evidence of that, he should seek medical attention. As any foreign object lodged in the body can set one up for sepsis and it could actually cause a blockage in the intestines.
