What good does salt water do for an infection

health advisory Hospital Dentists Yu 2007-11-11 18:16:56

i have an infection in my wisdom teeth, and my dentist told me to swish salt water around in my mouth. what exactly does this do? by the way, i need to have them taken out, so if anyone has any words of advice or encouragement, that would be greatly appreciated. thnx

Answer:

Salt is a Natural Disinfectant. It kills most microbes and germs. That's why when you have a sore throat or teeth removed the Dentist recommends that you rinse your mouth with Salt Water. I had mine wisdom removed a month ago. I missed my teeth for about 3 weeks, I could not chew well, no pleasure in eating Steak. I was annoyed. But like magic after a few days, I got used to it and now I dont miss them at all.

Also, a new discover has found that Honey is a natural kind of mouthwash, there are some honeys that have more antiseptic properties.

So it would do you good to have more honey and slowly replace Sugar with Honey. That's what I am doing.

Back to Salt, that's why Salt was used to preserve meats and fish and perishable foods.

Dont worry about them teeth, you should be fine in a few weeks.

Good Luck

salt is something they use to cut back on bacteria and swelling.

This is why if you get a cut on the beach and you soak it (as much as it hurts) in the ocean water, it will not get infected.

I had my wisdom's taken out and I can't say it was pleasant, HOWEVER, do note that it's only for a while and you'll survive it. :)
